Co-Pilot Project: Surgical epilepsy program in Ukraine

Since 2016, our team of physicians has conducted approximately 15 separate trips to Ukraine to help perform various neurosurgical procedures. These have included surgeries in patients with epilepsy. While this started with standard temporal lobectomies, surgery for MTS, and cases for lesional epilepsy, we also helped surgeons perform one of the first hemispherotomies in the country. We started an epilepsy conference with colleagues in Kyiv, Lviv, Lutsk, and Mukachevo. We are looking for training opportunities for our Ukrainian colleagues. Happy to work with any epileptologists who would be interested in this work.
